Berserk is a dark fantasy manga series that tells the story of Guts. A story set in Medieval Europe, Gut will have to run from the evil forces that haunts him while at the same time looking for the man who made him evil and unholy. Gut is all about swordplay, fate and camaraderie.
A wanderer warrior, Guts became part of Band of Hawk and the right man of its leader, Griffith. When Guts decided to leave the Band of Hawk, Griffith did everything he can to win him back, even going to prison. Guts then learned of what happened and tried to save Griffith but it was too late and to save himself, Griffith has to sacrifice his comrades. Miraculously, Gust survived but all his comrade died and he lost his arm and an eye while his lover got raped. Griffith sacrificed them to become final member of God’s hand. In the end, Guts established a group and called it the Band of hawk and sought Griffith to exact his revenge. watch Berserk more click here
Berserk: the Manga
Kentaro Miura created Berserk in 1988 but it was until 1990 when it first appeared in Jets Comics. After three years, Berserk continued to appear in Young Animals in 1992 and was adapted into a series in 1997. As of 2013, a total of 37 books of Berserk have been released by Jets Comics.
Berserk: the Anime
The anime series adaptation of Berserk aired from 1997 to 1998 with some changes from the manga series. One notable change made in the anime series was the death of Puck. The anime also focused on friendship and ambition as core themes of the series and less on supernatural events, a decision that Miura approved of.
Berserk Film Series and Video Games Adaptations
Three film series were released based on the manga series Berserk. The first two were released in 2012 with the titles Berserk: Golden Age Arc I – The Egg of the King and Berserk: Golden Age Arc II – The Battle for Doldrey while the 3rd movie were released in 2013 with the titleBerserk: Golden Age Arc III – The Advent.
Berserk video games have been developed as well by Yuke with the Sword of the Berserk: Guts’ Rage as the first one and Berserk: Millennium Falcon Hen SeimaSenki no Shō as the second one. The first one was created by ASCII Corporation in 1999 and the second one was created by Eidos Interactive.
Due to its popularity, Berserk spanned a lot of products such as lighters, keyrings, action figures, statues and kubricks. Konami even released a Berserk trading card while a Guts figure was made available by Max factory in 2012.
